Lucas Calzada

A sizzle reel for an original pilot I wrote some time ago. A dramedy about a diverse group of artists, activists, and actors trying to make it in LA.

Études

What is an "étude," you ask? Definition: a short musical composition, typically for one instrument, designed as an exercise to improve the technique of the player.

Below are études for my work as a writer and director— shorts made to practice various skills (like editing, composition, art direction, dialogue, etc). They aren't meant to be fully formed pieces/stories, rather a means of developing certain techniques. I hope you appreciate them.

The Latte — A Chase

Lucas Calzada

An assignment for LACC cinema production class, filmed right at the beginning of the pandemic. A chase, with focus on creating coherent spacial representation, proper on-screen direction, and minimal dialogue.
